Monday Funday

Monday we saw the replacement of the floor in the main slide, driver side. We were not allowed in the coach or right by it while they had the crane in use so we just watched. DSC00076

What was scary was them laying it on it’s side.

Then it’s strange seeing the inside openly.DSC00058

They have the new floor on, replaced all the weather stripping rubber seals, new rollers on the floor, had the seam on the carpet touched up, etc etc.  It took 4 hours, they do 2 of these a day! WHEW.DSC00074

Weather here has still been cold, but we didn’t get any snow like they originally predicted and changed. The freezing rain yesterday was mostly just rain. But as the temps dropped, things froze up. I was glad when our home was completed and we could hunker down inside of it. We even brought a couple slides in to keep the outside area getting cold to a minimum. That way the coach stayed heated better during the night, even though we like it cooler anyway.

I have to share that we did enjoy sunday evening in our coach with some new friends Don & Joann. They shared some wine, we talked through what should have been dinner, and then didn’t get our slide cabinets emptied out and packed. I need to note that we usually don’t drink wine, and I had already had a couple beers a little earlier which is usually all I have.  They had 2 different wines, one was Pinot Grigio (hers) and the other was Moscato (his). I really like his and had a few small glasses, maybe a glass or 2 too many. Once they left we decided we both needed something to eat, and I suggested greasy to absorb some alcohol! Rob cooked a plate of nacho’s and then he had a sandwich, I finished the last couple bites on him. Went straight to bed, wasn’t good for too much else!

This had us getting up early and getting stuff packed and out of the way. Good thing it only took us about an hour. Why then did it take me a couple hours to unpack and put it all away?!?!  Maybe the mid afternoon nap got in the way, or that only one of us put stuff away. Hmmm

I will say that Sadie has been really good with most all of this.DSC00059 Her belly and legs were getting pretty dirt filled, and the rain washed some of that underside off so she doesn’t feel so dirty. Here she is laying on the cold cement floor inside the building, patiently waiting for her daddy to stop talking, again! I think she wanted another walk, potty break and to get out of the noise.

Tiffin MFG, Red Bay AL

Here we are parked on an old municipal airport runway that Tiffin purchased and made a campground for people coming to get repairs, both warranty and not. The ground is all rocks and dirt. We have been make notes and a list of things for repair under our extended warranty and figured that on the trip from FL to MI, between Jan and March we should be able to sit here a little and get work completed. The advantage of being here now is that Jan & Feb are their slower months, fewer rigs here to repair. The disadvantage is that people aren’t out & about talking, sharing experiences, sitting around outside. Having a dog to walk around does help with this a little. While Tiffin is large in this town and supports many other companies with work, this town of Red Bay is in the far north west AL with much of nothing around here for a good half hour. It is all of about a mile from the MI state line, blink while headed out the drive west and oops, went too far!

We are not having to boondock aka dry camp, we do have electric and sewer, but water is only available from a single location right now. Nobody wants things to freeze up, especially for those not use to it. We saw one person throwing water on their car windshield while the wipers were going, likely trying to get rid of the frost. Good luck with that, and not cracking the windshield!

Once we arrived, we saw one person the next morning to talk about our list and was told 2 weeks till we get into a bay for all these repairs. Then we had one person come by to look at the “3 major issues” that Tiffin is looking at on all rigs and repairing if need – on their dime! Well we are not happy that they found they need to do all 3 on ours, but we are happy to have those things taken care of. That may even help with some other items and “see” what is causing the other things.Top Rail replacement 2

I will add photos later / tomorrow as I know that makes the reading a little more interesting!
